New International Expedition Abu Dhabi

I just received this and thought I would put it out there for everyone to ponder. Wish we could make it but it looks like we wont be hitting Abu Dhabi in 2007. Looks pretty sweet and the prize money is huge. Has anyone ever long distance orienteered with a camel before? Sounds fun!!!

PROGRAM & DISCIPLINES (subject to minor alteration)

Schedule of Events:

December 7th 2007: Teams arrive in Abu Dhabi. Hotel in Abu Dhabi (include. In your registration fee).
December 8th : Welcome & technical verifications. Hotel in Abu Dhabi (included in your registration fee).
December 9th : Start in the town of Abu Dhabi: ORIENTEERING around Abu Dhabi + SEA KAYAK (new sea kayaks with small sails & leeway, all material supplied by the Organisation). Bivouac on an island.
December 10th : SEA KAYAKAt the end of the section, transfer by bus to the desert. Bivouac in the desert.
December 11th & 12th: Long distance ORIENTEERING with CAMEL in the desert (Night & Day).At the arrival of the section a bivouac in the desert.
December 13th : ORIENTEERING in the desert + MTB + INLINE SKATING in the town of Al Aïn (TBC).Bivouac in an oasis, or in a traditional fortress.
December 14th : INLINE SKATING + ADVENTURE RUNNING + ROPE ACTIVITIES & MTB Prize giving ceremony & dinner. Night in a hotel (included in the registration fee).
December 15th : Transfer back to Abu Dhabi by bus.

PRIZE MONEY 200 000 $ de prize money, distributed between the first 30 teams.

MEDIA COVERAGECovered by international press: print & television. Important TV production of news feeds and a 52’ program in 2 sequels, airing assured with over 50 networks in Europe, USA, Australia, Asia, etc.

REGISTRATION FEE: 3500 Euros / team The race is open to mixed teams of 4 (no assistance).Registration fee includes: logistics & security at the race, sea kayaks and paddles, transport of team gear during the race, 2 hotel nights prior to the start + 1 at the finish, food at all bivouacs, prize giving ceremony & dinner at arrival.
